Machine pour offers speed, consistency, and the ability to cover larger service areas easily and effectively. It is the most cost-effective installation of concrete. Machine poured concrete increases production, reduces labor cost per installed unit, with reducing schedule durations without sacrificing quality.

Concrete FAQs

Why Is Concrete Such An Effective Building Material?

  • It is a meager cost. The raw materials of cement, water, and aggregates are readily available almost everywhere.
  • It offers tremendous strength and durability.
  • It is easy to mold, yet hardens and sets effortlessly.
  • It has terrific water and temperature resistance.
  • It typically has a long design life.
  • It is a recyclable product.

What Is Concrete Made Of?

Here is the simple answer; the mix design process is much more technical than our answer. Concrete is formed from three ingredients: Portland cement, a binder made from either limestone and shale or clay, combined with aggregates, typically sand, gravel, and crushed stone. Water then activates the hydration process when it contacts the cement, allowing it to bind the other ingredients together before it hardens. The typical breakdown is 10-20% cementation material, 65-70% aggregates, and 15-20% water.

What Causes Cracking In Concrete?

All concrete cracks. The secret is getting it to crack where you want it to. Surface cracks are formed through many causes, including subgrade issues and settlement, and commonly through expansion and contraction cycles, where distances between control joints are not symmetrical or too long of a span. Cracking can also occur when expansion material is not placed between two different sections of adjacent materials.

What Is Involved In The Curing Process?

The concrete will appear solid within 2-4 hours, depending on the mix used. Most designs require full strength within 28 days or less. TALL Contracting & Consulting Co. aims to achieve 80% strength within 8 hours to 3 days of placement. We accomplish this by choosing the best supplier, providing us on-time and in-spec to support our goals.

How Long Until I Can Walk Or Drive On New Concrete?

Depending on the project mix design requirements, you can walk on freshly placed concrete within 2-4 hours of placement. Most projects will allow for design traffic loads to access newly placed concrete once the compressing strength meets or exceeds 80% of the mix design value. Based on our methods and supplier choice, TALL Contracting & Consulting Co. repeatedly produces a standard placed concrete mix to an 80%+ strength within 3 days of placement.
